Ceres ‘Full Circle' Pinot Gris 2011

31 July,2012
The ‘Ceres' label is a collaboration between two Central Otago wines families, with Matt Dicey and Alison Holland owing the ‘Black Rabbit' vineyard, and James Dicey and Odelle Morshuis owning the ‘Inlet' vineyard, both sites in Bannockburn. The aim is toproduce ultra-premium Central Otago wine. The ‘Full Circle' Pinot Gris is aptly named as the fruit source is from Matt and James's parents Robin and Margaret Dicey's vineyard on Felton Road, indeed full circle for the brothers. www.cereswines.co.nz   For trade enquiries, contact Fiona Macleod, Cell: 027 645-2240 or visit www.bespokewines.co.nz

Ceres ‘Full Circle Vineyard' Central Otago Pinot Gris 2011

Pinot Gris from New Zealand – Otago

18+/20

Bright, pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues. The bouquet features bright. Lively aromas of exotic tropical fruits, yellow stonefruits, hints of honey and minerals, lifted with floral detail. Dryish to taste, intense and penetrating flavours of white and yellow stonefruits form a deep and concentrated core, with some alcohol presence adding to the body, weight and richness. Good acid balance adds to the drive and tension of the palate, and the wine is finely textured. The underlying alcoholic power leads to a finish with excellent length with subtle pear and stonefruit notes that provide interest and nuance. This is a lively and intense Pinot Gris with plenty of power and drive. Serve with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean fare over the next 3-4+ years. Fruit from the 1.36 ha ‘Full Circle' vineyard on Felton Road, from vines planted in 1994. Cool-fermented to 14.5% alc. and 3 g/L rs, the wine on lees 4 months with batonnage. Winemaker Matt Dicey. 18.0+/20 Jul 2012 RRP $28.00
