Haberdasher Central Otago Pinot Noir 2011

Pinot Noir from New Zealand – Otago

16/20

Moderately deep ruby-red colour with purple hues, lighter on rim. The bouquet is light and restrained, with soft red berry fruits, red florals, strawberries and fresh herb notes. Medium-bodied, light, juicy and up-front cherry fruit flavours are simply expressed with moderate depth. The extraction is modest and balanced acidity enables accessibility. Some grainy textures and a little alcohol warmth add to the vinous presence and palate line. This is a light, pretty Pinot Noir with some texture and mouthfeel. Fruit from a single vineyard in the Bendigo district, fully-destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented with a proportion of whole berries, partially by wild yeasts to 14.0% alc. The wine was aged in new and seasoned French oak. 16.0/20 Aug 2012 RRP $17.99
