Bright, pale straw colour-yellow colour, pale on rim with slight green hues. This has an elegant, very fine and tightly bound nose with delicate aromas of limes, minerals, jasmine florals and apples. Dry to taste, the flavours are still tightly bound, showing subtle citrus, stones, white florals and herbs. This is very fine-textured and soft in mouthfeel, the refinement a feature. The acidity is gentle, and the palate flows with delicacy to an ethereal finish. This is a refined and soft, but dry Riesling with detailed flavours. Serve with fine Asian cuisine over the next 5-7+ years. Blended Red from Australia – South Australia    17.5+/20
Very dark, saturated black-red colour with some purple on edge. This has a rich and packed nose of ripe blackcurrant fruit, distinctly Cabernet Sauvignon in expression, with notes of dark plums and black pepper secondary. A little oak cedar adds interest. Fullish-bodied, this has a soft, lush palate, quite juicy sweet and very accessible. Ripe blackcurrant fruit flavours are expressed with a plumpness and fleshiness. There is good, fine tannin extraction and lively acid tension, bringing the wine to life through the palate length. Fleshy and juicy and well-balanced, this will be a match with roast beef over the next 4-6 years. Named after a three-spiked prickle. Very full, dense, impenetrable black-red colour. This has a tight bouquet of black peppery fruit and Asian spices, lifted with sweet eucalypt, mint and toasty oak nuances. Medium-full bodied, the flavours of black berry and peppery fruits are a little shy, but show sweetness and ripeness. The tannin extraction is moderate, providing a soft textured line, and the finish is soft, spicy and lingering. This traditional Shiraz features the fruit in a soft, accessible way to enjoy with pastas and casseroles over the next 4-5 years. A tribute to forebear John William Riggs who wagged school to begin working for a living, but became a successful farmer. His signature, an ‘X' is pictured on the label. Named in honour of forebear John ‘The Gaffer' Riggs, acknowledging 150 years of Riggs family farming. McLaren Vale fruit from sites including ‘Goss Corner', Edgehill, ‘Piebald Gully' Braden's' and ‘Penny's Hill'. Fermented to 14.5% alc., aged in 30% new French oak. Bottled with a pink closure denoting donations to breast cancer research. Very full, dark, impenetrable black-red colour, the nose is finely expressed with intensity of fresh black fruits, pepper and mint-herb, along with a resiny-oak hint. Medium-full bodied, this is lively and fresh with bright, ripe, black berry and peppery fruits, unfolding notes of herbs and mint. Crisp acidity features and moderate tannin grip, providing good tension and poise. The tannin and acid line carry through to the moderately long finish. Piebald, meaning ‘black and white' refers to the co-fermenting of black Shiraz with white Viognier. A significant portion of the fruit from the ‘Piebald' vineyard in Clarendon, and some from ‘Braden's' and ‘Edgehill'. Fermented to 14.5% alc. Dark, deep, impenetrable black-red with ruby hues on edge. This has a powerful, penetrating bouquet with aromatic lift, showing ripe black berry and peppery fruit along with violet and apricot floral elements. Full-bodied, with bright, lifted black fruit flavours, this shows nuances of exotic florals and tropical fruits, and Asian spices. The palate is very smooth and fine-textured, near silky, but fine-grained tannins and lush acid provide good underlying depth and size. This has drive, and a degree of elegance which shows on the long and sustained finish. Very full, saturated black-red colour. This has a full, broad nose with ripe, gamey, savoury red berry fruits, hints of leather and earth, all powerfully presented with depth. Full-bodied, this is a powerfully structured wine with great extraction and grip, encasing flavours of savoury red berry fruits, cooked meats and soft leather and dried herbs. This is very Tempranillo in expression, with good acidity adding energy. The fruit is ripe, rich and mouthfilling, and the flavours carry to a long finish. Fruit from 11 y.o.vines from the ‘Yacca Paddock' vineyard at Kuitpo, Mount Lofty Ranges, fermentation finished in French oak, 33% new. 15.0% alc. The fourth release of this label, fruit from 23 y.o. vines from the Penley Estate in Coonawarra, fermented to 15.0% alc., the wine aged 13-17 months in 45% new American and French oak. Vety dark, saturated black-red colour with purple hues. This has a very full, beautifully ripened fruit bouquet of sweet blackcurrants with subtle mint notes, and balanced oak spices. Full-bodied, this has lush, ripe flavours of blackcurrants with sweet blackberry and black plum flavours, presented with purity and clarity. The flavours are mouthfilling, and seamlessly flow through the palate, with sweetness and warth. Very fine-grained tannins emerge, showing the significant extraction, and along with fine acidity lead to a strong, sustained finish. The 10th release of this label, the fruit for the 2010 from ‘Penny's Hill', ‘Piebald Gully', ‘Edgehill' and ‘Braden's', fermentation finished in oak. 80% of the oak was French and 20% American. 40% of the barrels were new. 14.5% alc. Very full, saturated purple-black colour. The bouquet is full and voluminous, packed with aromas of fully-ripened black fruits, plums, liquorice and eucalypt with oak spices, all harmoniously interwoven and without any excess. Full-bodied, this is extremely rich and mouthfilling, with multi-layered flavours of rich, fully-ripened black berry and plum fruits, unfolding waves of liquorice and spices, dark chocolate and eucalypt, with oak spice and cedar emerging. Matching the fruit decadence is significant extraction, the tannins very fine-grained, building in texture through the palate line. Good acidity enhances the fruit sweetness providing lift and vibrancy, and the wine carries a very long, sweet-fruited and fully nuanced finish. This is a hedonistic multi-faceted Shiraz with beautifully rich fruit and wonderful textural balance to see 12-15+ years effortless aging.
