Three Miners Central Otago Riesling 2017

In October 2014, Paul and Kirstin Wright took over the Three Miners 16.8 ha Earnscleugh Alexandra vineyard established by Jeff Price and Julie Mitchell in 2002. The vineyard has Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Gewurztraminer planted. The Wrights have Gary Crabbe as their viticulturist and Pete Bartle of VinPro as their winemaker. Three Miners Earnscleugh Central Otago Riesling 2017

Riesling from New Zealand – Otago

Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hues. The nose is softly fresh with a taut, refined core of lime and lemon fruit along with subtle notes of white florals and mouthwatering minerals, unfolding suggestions of honeysuckle and musk. Medium in sweetness and light-bodied, the palate has soft citrus fruit flavours melded with white florals, subtle honeysuckle and mineral notes and a hint of savoury musk forming a softly concentrated heart. The mouthfeel is smooth in flow with fresh, lacy acidity and the wine carries along a fine line, leading to a lingering finish of citrus fruit, honey and minerals. This is a medium, light-bodied Riesling with flavours of lime and lemon with nuances of honey, florals minerals and musk on a softly fresh, smooth palate. Serve with Asian fare over the next 4 years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘Three Miners’ vineyard, WBP and cool-fermented in tank to 10.5% alc. and 22.4 g/L RS, TA 8.65 g/L and pH 2.88. 18.0-/20 Jul 2018 RRP $23.00
