Pegasus Bay ‘Aria’ Waipara Valley Late Picked Riesling 2012

Sweet Wine from New Zealand – Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date - 30-Apr-2014

19-/20

Waipara Valley fruit with 30% botrytis shrivelled berries fermented to 10.0% alc. and 108 g/L RS. Full, bright, light golden colour with straw hues. The bouquet is softly voluminous with interwoven aromas of citrus fruits, exotic florals, honey and marmalade, infused with musky botrytis and subtle toasty complexities. Very sweet to taste, the richness is balanced by very fine, lacy, crisp acidity, and the flavours of exotic florals, citrus and honey elegantly expressed. The palate is very fine in proportion with intense and luscious tropical fruits, talc and marmalade showing beautiful poise and vitality, the decadence quite subtle and seamless in flow. The flavours and sweetness are completely integrated and carry through to a refined, sustained finish of florals, musk and honey. This is a beautifully elegant and refined sweet Riesling with a balance between decadence and freshness. Match with fruit desserts over the next 6-8 years. 19.0-/20 May 2014 RRP $36.95
