Pisa Range Estate Pisa Central Otago Late Harvest Riesling 2016

Sweet Wine from New Zealand – Otago
Review Date - 16-Oct-2016

18.5/20

Bright straw-yellow colour with pale golden suggestions, lighter on the rim. The nose is elegantly concentrated with soft, but well-packed aromas of lime and apricot fruit entwined with savoury honey, yellow florals, and lime marmalade botrytis, revealing some mineral nuances. Very sweet to taste, the palate is rich, rounded and luscious, with an opulent core of lime fruit and apricots, honey and nectar, with lime marmalade and musk. The sweetness is balanced by a fine phenolic thread and fresh, zesty acidity providing energy, tension and cut. The concentrated honey and marmalade flavours lead to a long, fine-featured, decadent finish. This is an opulent and decadent Late Harvest, botrytised Riesling with lime marmalade and honey flavours with a fine line and refreshing acidity. Match with fruit desserts, panna cotta and crème caramel over the next 5-6 years. Fully botrytised Pisa fruit given 24 hours skin contact and fermented in stainless-steel to 11.5% alc. and 212 g/L RS, TA 11.2 g/L and pH 3.21. (375 ml) 18.5/20 Oct 2016 RRP $TBA
