Te Whare Ra Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2013

Gewurztraminer from New Zealand – Marlborough
Review Date - 06-Jun-2014

19.5-/20

Brilliant pale straw-yellow colour with lemony hues. The nose is elegantly full and densely concentrated, unfolding fine-featured waves of exotic florals, rose petals and Turkish Delight. The richness and presence is sensational and the finesse of expression exquisite. Medium in sweetness, the seamlessness of texture and refined unctuousness is the feature on palate, with considerable fruit extract forming a concentrated core. Flavours of honey, florals and musk are beautifully presented with a luscious density. The acidity is discreet and alcoholic drive totally integrated, and the wine is carried with excellent drive and energy to a vibrant, succulent, very long and sustained finish. This is a seamless, unctuous and refined medium Gewurztraminer with fine power and drive. Serve with Middle Eastern and Asian fare over the next 4-5+ years. Hand-picked fruit from the ‘TWR Home Block’ from 34 y.o. vines, cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 14.2% alc. and 25 g/L RS. Certified BioGro organic. 400 cases made. 19.5-/20 Jun 2014 RRP $32.00
