Terrace Edge Waipara Valley ‘Classic’ Riesling 2016

Riesling from New Zealand – Canterbury & Waipara
Review Date - 15-Feb-2018

18.5+/20

Bright straw-yellow colour with lemon-green hues, pale on the edge. The nose is softly concentrated with deep aromas of ripe lime fruit along with white and yellow stonefruits, and an amalgam of yellow florals with mineral elements. The aromatics form a rounded core unfolding an array of citrus fruits. Medium-dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has rich and mouthfilling flavours of ripe citrus fruits and yellow stonefruits with subtle honied and yellow floral flavours along with nuances of lees and minerals. The palate has plenty of fruit extract and presence with fine-grained phenolic textures lending a refined line, with balanced, underlying acidity. The wine carries with good power and drive to a long and concentrated finish. This is a fulsome, mouthfilling, ripe, medium-dry Riesling with ripe citrus and stonefruit flavours with honey and minerals, and plenty of palate presence. Serve as an aperitif, with poultry and Asian fare over the next 5+ years. Very clean fruit, hand-picked, WBP and fermented to 13.0% alc. and 12.5 g/L RS, ta 7.5 g/L and pH 3.19. Certified BioGro organic. 18.5+/20 Feb 2018 RRP $23.95
