Marlborough Winemakers Wine Options 2012 – Round Three

By September 14, 2012No Comments
The third round of the monthly series of the Marlborough Winemakers Wine Options was conducted by well-known wine writer Yvonne Lorkin at the Drylands restaurant on Friday 14 September. Yvonne says it was “intimidating [for her] being up there in front of 130-odd professional palates”, but I reckon that the 130 participants would have been more intimidated by her and her wine selection! Yvonne “decided to choose wines that were a bit different, but also affordable, and available”, keeping away from the more usual diet of “German Riesling, red burgundy, Marlborough Sauvignon or Gravels Syrah”. Yvonne reports that her choices turned out to be challenging. This round saw a bit of a shake-up to the scoreboard. It was possibly one of the most talked about evenings to date, according to one of the organising committee members.
