New World Wine Awards 2012 – Top 50 Wines

By September 16, 2012No Comments
I received via my letterbox a whole bundle of flyers which included the Top 50 wines from the New World Wine Awards 2012, judged in the middle of July. The full results can be seen by clicking here. More on the judging process can be seen by visitig www.newworld.co.nz
The very experienced Jim Harré chaired a very strong panel of 13 judges in the tenth year of this competition. Criteria for the show are that the wines entered must retail at under $25.00 and that a minimum of 500 cases must be available. There were 1008 wines entered from 162 wineries.  56 (2.55%) gold medals (some were not listed in the Top 50 due to not meeting the price or quantity points), 130 (12.9%) silver and 412 (40.87%) bronze medals were awarded.
