By October 11, 2011No Comments

It has been reported that Olssen’s Winery in Central Otago has been sold. The 9.18 ha vineyard at the end of Felton Road was established by John Olssen an Heather McPherson in 1989 and has become highly rated for full-flavoured Pinot Noir, which accounts for 5.4 ha of the plantings. The flagship ‘Slapjack Creek’ and premium ‘Jackson Barry’ Pinot Noirs have won numerous top awards over the years, bringing credit to the brand, vineyard and winemakers involved. The buyer is said to be Auckland businessman Mark Weldon, who recently resigned as CEO of NZX, in charge of the New Zealand Stock Exchange. Karen Olssen and Jennifer Parr are the incumbent viticulturist and winemaker, both being with Olssen’s for a number of years.  www.olssens.co.nz
