36 Bottles Central Otago Rosé 2014

03-Oct-2014
36 Bottles proprietor Jane Young insisted with her partner Douglas Brett that their wine range should have a rosé in it, so Douglas worked with his winemaker Sarah-Kate Dineen to make one from the 2013 vintage. The wine is a delicious one, in a style that showcased refreshing raspberry and cream fruit, and a little candied sweetness. I liked it (click here to see my review) but the Cuisine magazine judges liked it even more, rating it a 5-star wine, and ranking it No. 2 in their tasting of rosé wines for the January issue earlier this year. Needless to say, the wine has been a rip-roaring success since. Douglas, Jane and Sarah-Kate have made the second release in essentially exactly the same way as the inaugural wine. My perception of it is that it seems a tad drier, slightly less candied, and a little more textural, making it even more food friendly. Here is my review of the new 2014 wine. www.36bottles.co.nz
