Alana Estate ‘Tuapapa’ Pinot Noir 2010

04-Apr-2012

All eyes are on the new team at Alana Estate as they head into the 2012 vintage. Pete Wilkins, installed as CEO late last year has considerable viticultural expertise, and this will put the company in good stead with this late and challenging harvest. It is said that experience counts for much in such situations. Alex Craighead is the newly appointed winemaker, and his enthusiasm will no doubt give much positivity for the debut vintage for this team. The quality of the Alana site, its 17 ha on the Martinborough Terrace, and the terroir has never been in doubt, and many previous releases have demonstrated it well. One can sense a building momentum at Alana Estate. Here reviewed is the 2010 ‘Tuapapa' Pinot Noir, the word meaning ‘Terrace', reflecting the location of Alana Estate. It is a wine based on the younger plant material. www.alana.co.nz
