Aravin – In Love with Alexandra
Working in Dunedin, Evan and Kay Moore discovered the beauty of Alexandra and decided this was the place for their ‘retirement project'. In 1999, they planted their first vines in a 7 ha site on Hillview Road. Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir are planted and the wines are made at Alexandra Vintners by Antony Worch. www.aravin.co.nz

Aravin Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009Pinot Noir from New Zealand - OtagoReview Date : 17-May-2011Ruby-red colour with pale purple hues, this is youthful in appearance. The bouquet is light and fresh with aromas of dark red cherry fruit and thyme herbs with good concentration in an elegant presentation. Medium-bodied at 13.7% alc., this is a stylish and well-proportioned wine with attractively sweet, well-ripened, dark berry and cherry liqueur flavours with a good core on the palate. The richness is balanced by very fine tannin grip and good, fresh acidity. Seemingly a smaller-scale wine, this is sure to blossom and surprise with its succulence and depth over the next 4-6+ years. Match with salmon, tuna, duck and pork. 18.0-/20 May 2011 RRP $30.00.
