Ata Rangi 2012 Sauvignon Blanc & Kahu Riesling

07-Dec-2012
Ata Rangi in Martinborough is one of those rare artisan winemakers that do everything exceptionally well, making arguably the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the Martinborough district, these wines considered by many to be among the best of their kind in the country. The other wines in the Ata Rangi portfolio are also excellent examples of their style. I fully reviewed the new release 2012 ‘Summer' Rosé and Pinot Gris, and 2011 Chardonnays last month (click here to read), and they are deliciously good. The quality of the wines is due to the great attention to detail in vineyard and winemaking by vineyard manager Gerry Rotman and winemaker Helen Masters, all overseen by hands-on owners Clive Paton, his wife Phyll Pattie and his sister Ali Paton. Here I review the remaining two white wines in the range, the 2012 Sauvignon Blanc and ‘Kahu' Botrytis Riesling, just released to the market. www.atarangi.co.nz
