Bannock Brae 2013 Central Otago ‘Goldfields’ Pinot Noir

21-Aug-2015
Crawford and Catherine Brown have consolidated their vineyard holdings on Cairnmuir Road in Bannockburn since their first vintage of 2001, so as to be able to personally manage the viticulture and marketing aspects of their operation. They have the emerging Gruner Veltliner variety, planted in 2008, giving them their first crop in 2011. The remainder of the vineyard is dedicated to Pinot Noir, from which they make a rosé every second year, and the very successful ‘Goldfields’ and ‘Barrel Selection’ wines. Their Riesling is sourced from neighbours, and they purchase fruit to supplement their own if needed. Sarah-Kate Dineen is the contracted winemaker. Here, I review the 2013 ‘Goldfields’ Pinot Noir. www.bannockbrae.co.nz
