Black Cottage Reserve Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

15-Aug-2013
The ‘Black Cottage’ wines from Marlborough winemaker Dave Clouston have proven to be a success, these designed to be consumed with ‘gusto’ and offering good value. Much of the quality is due to Dave’s intimate knowledge of the Wairau and Awatere sourced fruit, and his 30 vintages of experience also a significant factor. One of the surprises of the ‘Black Cottage’ range is the ‘Reserve’ Pinot Noir sourced from Central Otago fruit. This is seemingly outside Dave Clouston’s comfort zone, being a Marlborough-bred man, but the 2011 vintage I reviewed in October last year was a very pleasant surprise (click here to see my review). Clearly Dave has no difficulties with grapes outside the home base! Here is my review of the 2012 vintage. www.blackcottagewines.co.nz
