Black Estate – Aiming High in Waipara

22-Mar-2011
In 2007, Rod and Stacey Naish purchased the 8 ha Black Estate Vineyard in Omihi, in the Waipara Valley. The vines at 14 y.o. were well established, and they provided the foundation for making high quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines with their sons-in-law Nicholas Brown, with winemaking experience with Danny Schuster, and Alistair Blair, looking after the vineyard. By contracting Riesling fruit, Black Estate now has three varietals with which they are making a strong presence in the market. They are a label to watch. www.blackestate.co.nz
