Bladen Marlborough 2014 Whites, Rosé and 2012 Pinot Noir

02-Oct-2014
The Bladen wines of Marlborough are the produce of Christine and Dave Macdonald’s well-established 8 ha vineyard at Conders Bend Road, Renwick. They also source fruit from the friends to make their wine, including from the 0.6 ha vineyard of Keven and Kerry Tilly on Paynters Road, Fairhall and the 1.2 ha Alma Street vineyard of Nick and Lauren Hunter. The Bladen wines are made by Sam Smail, Diana Katardzhieva and Rowan Langdon at the Whitehaven facility. The name ‘Bladen’ is a contraction of the Macdonald’s children’s names Blair and Deni. I’ve found the wines to be elegant and can have a beauty to them. (Click here to see my reviews of the 2013 whites.) Here, I review a selection of the 2014 whites and the first Bladen Pinot Rosé, as well as the 2012 Pinot Noir. www.bladen.co.nz
