Bodegas Luzon – More Modern Reds from Jumilla

18-May-2011
New Zealand national wine distributors Federal*Geo have in their portfolio a range of red wines from Bodegas Luzon in the Jumilla region of the Levante, south-eastern region Spain. The bodega, established in 1916 is a venerable and prestigious one, acquired in 2004 by the Fuertes family who has undertaken a programme of modernisation. The quality of the wines is based on the 700 ha of own vineyards, planted in Monastrell (aka Mourvedre), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, as well as Chardonnay. This rejuvenation is a good example of the strides made in Jumilla in achieving modern wine styles where the hot and arid climate led to rusticity in the past. www.bodegasluzon.com
