Cambridge Road, Animus and La Luna – Martinborough Naturally

07-Jul-2015
Lance Redgwell is one of the new generation of young winemakers breathing new life into the Martinborough vignoble. Open-minded, yet respecting of what has already has been established, he aims to extend the work of the pioneers, heading into a brave new world with the incorporation of contemporary ideas and innovations. He has embraced biodynamic viticulture and winemaking methods as natural as possible. The base of Cambridge Road is the 1.8 ha of vines established in 1986, approx. three quarters Pinot Noir and one-quarter Syrah, which he produces varietal bottlings as well as the ‘Dovetail’ field blend. ‘Animus’ is "really a more affordable look into my work” and includes material not included in the top tier ‘Cambridge Road’ wines. Fruit from other sites has been sourced for the ‘Animus’ wines, as well as the even more accessible ‘La Luna’ label. The wines are made in Lance’s winery on site, commissioned in 2010. www.cambridgeroad.co.nz
