Carrick Bannockburn 2010 Pinot Noirs

27-Mar-2012
Steve Green and Barbara Robertson continue to raise the standards for the excellent Carrick wines from their Cairnmuir Terraces winegrowing operation at Bannockburn. Steve and Barbara were founding grower partners for Mt Difficulty, the first Carrick vineyards planted in 1993, but they decided to have their own distinct label. Named after the ‘Carrick Bend' knot, the wine is the result of the tying together of the terroir with viticulture and winemaking. The secondary tier ‘Unravelled' cleverly puns this with the knot untying and unravelling. The vineyard and wines from 2011 will be BioGro fully certified organic, the result of much work by Carrick's highly experienced viticulturist Blair Deaker. Francis Hutt, who is well-known for his time at Martinborough Vineyard assisted in the organic transition process, and he took over the winemaker role from Jane Docherty late 2010.
