Cirro Pinot Gris 2012 and Pinot Noir 2010

14-Feb-2013

The ‘Cirro' wines of Marlborough are made by winemakers Dave Tyney and Richard Green of Viscosity Wines Ltd. The company was founded in 2009 with the aim of making top quality commercial wine that can be enjoyed by all. ‘Cirro' refers to the cirro clouds seen above the Southern Alps and the Marlborough Sounds, and is the source of water purportedly contributing to the distinctiveness of the wines. I've met Dave Tyney on a number of occasions and know he is keen, has a good track record with the wines he has made so far and has quality in mind. Coming from South Australia, he has settled in Marlborough and is one of the new wave of young winemakers who will, no doubt, make their mark. Here, I review his new Pinot Gris 2012 and Pinot Noir 2010. www.cirrowines.com
