Clark Estate and Boreham Wood 2014 Whites and Pinot Noir

26-Jun-2015
Clark Estate is a quintessential family wine estate in the Upper Awatere Valley. Owned by Peter and Jane Clark and their winemaker son Simon and daughter Sarah looking after sales and marketing, they have forged a fine reputation for the aromatic whites in particular from their 10 ha of vineyards. The family, coming from Boreham Wood in Southern Herefordshire has strong market ties there, as well as the U.S and Australia, and a number of the wines are labelled under both ‘Clark Estate’ and ‘Boreham Wood’ to work in domestic and export terms. Here, I review a pair of 2014 whites, a Pinot Gris and Riesling (the latter under ‘Boreham Wood’ only), and the new Pinot Noir from contracted fruit. The Clarks have rebranded their domestic labelling with this release, coinciding with a refreshed website. www.clarkestate.com
