Craggy Range 2013 Aroha, Le Sol and Sophia – The Prestige Collection

30-Jun-2015
The build-up to the release of Craggy Range’s 2013 ‘Prestige Collection’ release has been unprecedented. Called the ‘vintage of a generation’ the wines have the potential to amaze wine lovers well into the next generation. I had the privilege of tasting barrel samples of the varietal components of the 2013 ‘Sophia’ last year (click here to see my report), and then I was part of a media contingent which saw the 2013 ‘Aroha’ Pinot Noir, ‘Le Sol’ Syrah and ‘Sophia’ Merlot-based wine at Craggy Range’s ‘Giants’ winery (click here to read my impressions) just before their official release on 1 June. On both occasions, I came away utterly impressed with the quality, and amazed by the refined style of the wines. I’ve now had the opportunity of looking, tasting (and drinking) the wines in much more controlled conditions for ‘Feature Reviews’. They are sensational wines which deserve to be in any serious cellar. My tasting notes follow. www.craggyrange.com
