Crush Pad 2014 Chardonnay, and Moana Park 2013 Viognier, Chardonnay and Syrah

14-Jul-2014
The Moana Park winery is an active producer, keen to be at the forefront for the wine consumer. Under the ownership of Dan and Kaylea Barker since 2008, Moana Park is known for making wines with minimal intervention and as naturally as possible with no animal products or fining to be low allergen. The house style is artisanal and flavoursome, the wines designed to be consumed and enjoyed, rather than be intellectualised. This philosophy applies to the Barkers’ ‘Crush Pad’ wines, which are ‘young and vibrant’, made from grapes crushed, fermented and bottled straight off the pad. Their early release is a feature. (Click here to see my review of the 2014 Crush Pad Sauvignon Blanc, released at the start of April!) Here, I review the new 2014 Crush Pad Chardonnay and 2013 Moana Park Viognier, Chardonnay and ‘Gimblett Road’ Syrah wines, the latter a different bottling to the ‘Hawke’s Bay’ Syrah reviewed earlier, but all on the market for earliest enjoyment. www.crushpad.co.nzwww.moanapark.co.nz
