Domain Road 2014 Rosé. 2013 Whites and 2012 Pinot Noir

22-Oct-2014
Graeme and Gillian Crosbie take a very active role in the growing of their grapes and the making of their ‘Domain Road Vineyard’ wines. They established their 6.5 ha home block on the site of an old apricot orchard on Domain Road on the upper Bannockburn terraces. From there, they have developed a classy range of wines with the help of Peter Bartle at VinPro that very much reflect the high standards and attention to detail in everything they do. In 2012, they purchased a further 10 ha on Felton Road to establish their ‘Defiance’ vineyard, and this will take the Crosbies to another level of wine production. I visited both the home site and the new vineyard in January, earlier this year, and was struck by the Crosbies’ enthusiasm and excitement with the new developments (click here to read my report). I also tasted their current releases, which also impressed. Here, I review the new releases, a 2014 Rosé, the 2013 whites and 2012 Pinot Noir. www.domainroad.co.nz
