Dry River 2013 Autumn Releases – Full Reviews

11-Apr-2013

I tasted the 2013 Autumn Releases from the iconic Dry River winery in Martinborough in the middle of March (click here to see my Blog article). General manager Ant Mackenzie, winemaker Wilco Lam and viticulturist, the new team, were in fine form, and the wines they were showing were also showing well, as classic Dry River examples. There, the 2012 whites looked tight and youthful, with the potential to age, as they normally do, and the Pinot Noir 2011, which I had a preview at the end of last year was outstanding. I review the new releases fully here. I must point out that on this occasion, the white wines in particular needed time to open up in the glass. Don’t serve them too cold, as this will close them down. These are pointers of the cool and long 2012 growing season, conditions which can result in wines of finesse and longevity, and this seems to be the case here. www.dryriver.co.nz
