Elephant Hill 2013 Le Phant and Syrah

20-Jun-2014
The Elephant Hill wines have consistently impressed with their elegant style over recent years and their completeness, especially in the reds is sure to become more apparent as winemaker Steve Skinner fully utilises the 17 ha of Gimblett Gravels vines and 15 ha of fruit from their Bridge Pa Triangle vineyard to complement the original 25 has planted at Te Awanga. Following an outstanding 2013 vintage, the new release wines are to be anticipated. Here, I review the 2013 ‘Le Phant’ Bordeaux blend and Syrah. They show beautiful aromatics, fine ripe tannins and finesse of style, with good potential to develop well. www.elephanthill.co.nz
