Elephant Hill Chardonnay 2011

12-Sep-2013
The coastal region of Te Awanga in Hawke’s Bay is proving to be a fine district for growing Chardonnay. The maritime influence provides cooler temperatures and a longer growing season which imparts considerable elegance in the wines, traits which are different to the sites further inland which often give strong and firm wines with more body. Elephant Hill has produced an excellent range of wines from their Te Awanga vineyards, including Chardonnay, which has been well awarded at wine shows. I was impressed with the 2010 vintage (click here to see my review), and here I review the new 2011. www.elephanthill.co.nz
