Envoy – Spy Valley’s Play Wines

29-Dec-2011
The ‘Envoy' range of Spy Valley allows the viticultural and winemaking teams let it ‘hang out', allowing more individual expressions of the vineyard come through. Invariably the Envoy wines are made from selected parcels of fruit from the estate which have proven to be of high quality and show interesting characteristics. Viticulturist Adam McCone, winemaker Paul Bourgeois and their team take a low key, low intervention approach and just try to guide what the site and vintage has provided, and the resulting wines over successive vintages have proven extremely interesting. They are Spy Valley's ‘play' wines, where they don't actually try to play too much! A trio of the latest Envoy wines came my way in time, specifically designed to serve with the glazed ham and turkey. www.spyvalleywine.co.nz
