The fruit oversupply situation in New Zealand coupled with the economic recession has provided the opportunity for entrepreneurial operators to put very good value wines on the market, providing wine consumers with some great buying. The supermarkets, traditional liquor and on-trade channels could benefit in the medium-long term if the wines made are of sufficient quality to warrant brand building.
