Folding Hill Bendigo 2012 and Ballasalla 2013 Pinot Noir

10-Apr-2015
Tim Kerruish and his partners in their Folding Hill vineyard are making a strong impression on the wine scene with their fulsome and powerful Pinot Noir wines that speak of the Bendigo sub-region in Central Otago with their dark fruit, liquorice and iron-core characters. All of the wines, the second label ‘Ballasalla’, Folding Hill and site specific and clone selection ‘Orchard Block’ have received high critical acclaim. Clearly, their 4 ha site planted in 2003, the viticultural care of James Dicey and winemaking by Fred Reinds are working well to deliver quality. Here I review the current release 2013 ‘Ballasalla Pinot Noir and estate 2012 Folding Hill Pinot Noir. www.foldinghill.co.nz
