Four Hawk Day 2013 Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé

22-Oct-2013

The ‘Four Hawk Day’ brand is the own label of Adrian Landon-Lane and Jo Janssen, Marlborough grapegrowers since 1993. The name refers to a family game of sighting hawks, with seeing four as "the best possible day”. With approx. 6.5 ha of Sauvignon Blanc and a hectare of Pinot Noir in the Waihopi Valley foothills providing contract fruit for premium wine, they bottled a 2012 Sauvignon Blanc, made by David Pearce as their first wine. The success of this wine has seen expansion, with the 2013 vintage, made by Dave Tyney, introducing a rosé. There is a ‘Reserve’ Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir in the works, undergoing barrel aging. Here, I review the new 2013 Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé wines. www.fourhawkday.co.nz
