Fromm 2011 ‘La Strada’ and ‘Single Vineyard’ Releases

25-Jul-2013
Although seen as totally traditional in its outlook, Fromm in reality combines the best of the old world with new world innovation. The signature wines for Fromm are the single vineyard ‘Fromm’ and ‘Clayvin’ expressions developed under the careful eye of winemaker Hatsch Kalberer. These are extremely refined, terroir expressive wines that benefit from cellaring to show their best. The modern side is the ‘La Strada’ tier, speaking of Marlborough regionality with an accessibility that allows immediate enjoyment. These wines have been the result of winemaker William Hoare’s input. This allows Fromm a foot in both camps, which will appeal to the specific needs of the wider market. In keeping at the forefront of the industry, Fromm is now certified BioGro organic, and utilises biodynamic regimes, thus is among the leaders in environmentally sensitive and sustainable winegrowing. Here, I review a selection of the 2011 wines, both ‘La Strada’ and ‘single vineyard’ bottlings. They have the sinew and texture imparted by the vintage. www.frommwinery.co.nz
