Georges Road 2014 Rosé, and 2013 Pinot Noir and Syrah

30-Jul-2014
One of the new stars of the Waipara Valley district of North Canterbury, Kirk Bray of Georges Road Wines has made a series of outstandingly beautiful and refined Riesling and Pinot Gris wines. Kirk’s experience in Germany will without doubt have contributed to the crafting of these wines. The reds from Pinot Noir and Syrah are equally exciting, and the style and quality is fast approaching that of the whites from my perspective. These reds are also crafted with elegance in mind. A vertical tasting of the Syrah wines from the inaugural 2009 to the cooler 2012 release showed the excellent handling of the fruit from varied growing conditions (click here to see my report). I’ve not had quite the experience of seeing the Georges Road Pinot Noirs as the other three varieties, and need to taste more to get a fuller picture. This review of the new 2014 Rosé, and 2013 Pinot Noir and Syrah will help! www.georgesroadwines.co.nz
