Gillman Matakana 2009

18-Jun-2015
Inspired by his stage at Chateau Angelus in the late 1990s, Toby Gillman established 0.6 ha of close-planted Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec on his family property at Matakana. His aim is to produce a wine that can foot it with the top wines of the Right Bank of Bordeaux. The first vintage of the Gillman Matakana Red was in 2002, and since then, each successive vintage has received acclaim. I tasted the 2005-2007 vintages in November 2012 (click here to see my reviews), and I reviewed the 2008 last year (click here to see). I have rated each wine 5-stars. Now, I review the new release 2009. www.gillmanvineyard.co.nz
