Glasnevin ‘Limited Release’ Pinot Gris 2012

01-Apr-2013

Having grown grapes on the south bank of the Waipara river since 1994, the Johns family came to recognise special qualities in the soils in the district in North Canterbury. The Glasnevin soils, after which their premium, limited release wines are named after, are composed of loamy and sandy gravel formed from the Waipara alluvium. Low fertility and vigour, excellent drainage and aeration, and low yields seem to be resultant characteristics, and the wines produced have a minerally component. The aromatic varieties seem to be particularly successful. The ‘Glasnevin’ wines I have reviewed previously have impressed. Here is the new release Pinot Gris 2012. www.glasnevinwines.co.nz
