Gold Star Work – The Pukeora Estate Wines

23-Jun-2015
Gold Star Work is the wine merchant brand of Paul Wilson. It features the work of artist Michael Parekowhai which presents the wine bottles as art objects, with hand-applied star and circle designs that are representations of the Pleaides star cluster. Gold Star Work features the Central Hawke’s Bay wines from Pukeora Estate, near Waipukurau in their inaugural release. The wines under the Gold Star Work labelling are a selection of that made by Max Annabell and Kate Norman who have 5 ha of vines on their property around the site of what were former sanatorium buildings. A varied mix of varieties is planted, including Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on the gentle upper slopes, and Merlot on the steeper, upper slopes. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Syrah and Semillon are on the mid to lower slopes. The vines date back to 2000. Here are my reviews of the Gold Star Work wines. www.goldstarwork.com
