Greenhough Nelson 2014 and 2013 Releases

28-Nov-2014
Now approaching 25 vintages in Nelson, Andrew Greenhough and Jenny Wheeler are among the most experienced and respected of the region’s winegrowers. The heart of their operation is the ‘Hope’ vineyard with Pinot Noir, Riesling and Pinot Blanc vines that are nearly 40 y.o. Over the years, they’ve expanded their holdings in Hope, on the Waimea Plains to 7.5 ha of vines. They supplement this with fruit from the nearby ‘Morison’ vineyard with 4.2 ha of vines. Both of these sites are certified BioGro organic, the former in 2011 and the latter this year. There is also fruit sourced from the 4.1 ha of vines on the ‘Barraud’ vineyard in Upper Moutere, which gives the Greenhough label a balance that enables the representation of Nelson. Here, I review the 2014 Sauvignon Blanc and ‘Apple Valley Riesling, and the 2013 Moutere Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir. www.greenhough.co.nz
