Greystone 2012 Pinot Gris Releases

27-Feb-2013

Named after the grey limestone of the Teviotdale Hills in the Waipara Valley in North Canterbury, Greystone has experienced a startling rise to fame since 2004. The Thomas family originally planted Pinot Noir to make up over 60% of the vines in the ground, with Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer figuring significantly in the mix, along with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, plus a little Syrah. It was the aromatic wines skilfully crafted by Dom Maxwell which drew attention to the Thomas family endeavours, with Pinot Gris arguably being the most notable. Here I review the new 2012 wines, about to be released. www.greystonewines.co.nz
