Greystone Waipara Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2014

26-Sep-2014
Although Greystone Wines is primarily a Waipara Valley Pinot Noir producer, the unexpected success for the company has been Sauvignon Blanc, which has necessitated extra plantings to keep up with the demand. Viticulturist Nick Gill and winemaker Dominic Maxwell grow and make the wine in a more sophisticated and complex style with wild yeasts, barrel work and lees contact. It is extremely pleasing to see the acceptance of this alternative style of Sauvignon Blanc by the market domestically and internationally. I’ve been impressed with Greystone’s Sauvignon Blanc too, having reviewed the 2013 (click here to see) and the 2012 (click here to see). Here, I review the new 2014 release which reflects a more challenging season resulting in an elegant style. www.greystonewines.co.nz
