Greywacke 2013 Marlborough Riesling and Pinot Gris

14-Jul-2015
It seems incredible that Greywacke was established by Kevin and Kimberley Judd a few short years ago in 2009. In that time, the Greywacke wines have joined the leaders of contemporary style in Marlborough by way of their richness, degree of texture and complexity. The Judds work primarily with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, but Chardonnay, and three aromatic white varieties, Riesling Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer add much breadth to the portfolio. All of the wines appeal to the serious wine lover due to their subtle funkiness from the use of indigenous yeasts, lees contact and sensitive use of oak. Here, I review the new release 2013 Riesling and Pinot Gris which demonstrate the successful style. www.greywacke.com
