Haha 2013 Marlborough Chardonnay

17-Oct-2013
The ‘Haha’ wine brand has achieved startling success from the get-go, making a strong impact on the domestic market and recently finding blue-chip distribution in Australia. The basis of the rapid rise of the label is the careful planning in production and marketing by managing director Ash Ireland, and the quality of the wines being selected by John Belsham, with the requirement of offering great value. The first wine released was a Sauvignon Blanc, with a Pinot Noir being added soon after. With the 2013 vintage, Haha have added Chardonnay to the portfolio, a sure sign that Haha is getting more serious. I review the 2013 Chardonnay here. It is still very youthful and tightly constrained, and will develop greater richness with some bottle age. If you’re going to drink it soon, it will benefit from some aeration or decanting. www.hahawine.com
