Haha Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2014

01-Sep-2014
The ‘Haha’ wine brand continues to grow, wildly in some eyes. With success comes the need for controlled growth so that quality does not slip and that the market is supported without interruption. This appears to be the case for Haha’s managing director Ash Ireland, who is equally excited as he is cautious about the release of a Pinot Gris to the range. The wine will add to the original portfolio of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, which was just recently extended by a Chardonnay and ‘Reserve’ Pinot Noir, all these being made from Marlborough fruit. The Pinot Gris is from Hawke’s Bay fruit and is made by a new regional contracted winemaking team, also overseen by John Belsham. As with all the other wines labelled under Haha, it is designed to over-deliver in quality for its asking price. Here is my review of the wine, released 1 September. www.hahawine.co.nz
