Haha Hawke’s Bay Pinot Gris 2015

29-Jul-2015
I know that Ashton Ireland, managing director of Haha agonised over the development and inclusion of a Pinot Gris to his well-organised portfolio. The sales of Sauvignon Blanc from the inaugural 2011 vintage and the Pinot Noir from the 2010 have been carefully projected and tied with the production, and we have witnessed the successful growth of a new wine brand since. Chardonnay, Merlot and a ‘Reserve’ Pinot Noir have also been introduced seamlessly, but the variable quality of Pinot Gris in the marketplace provided sufficient cause to approach this category with caution. Get it right, and sales could fly. In September last year, Ash released Haha’s first Pinot Gris from the 2014 vintage (click here to see my review). The wine sold out ahead of projections, and there’s a back log of orders. Here is my review of the new release 2015. www.hahawine.co.nz
