Hawksdrift Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011 – 2013 and Chardonnay 2013 – 2014

12-Oct-2015
Murray and Robyn Butt planted the first vines on Morgans Road in the Dillons Point district in 1998. With around 9 ha of vines, apportioned to 4 ha of Sauvignon Blanc, 2.5 ha of Pinot Noir and 2 ha of Chardonnay, they have supplied their fruit to high profile producers, but introduced their own label, ‘Hawksdrift’ with the 2011 vintage, made from selected, hand-picked parcels of fruit. The aim is to have distinctive and complex wines "outside the square”, and they have Dave Tyney as their winemaker. Here, I recap the Sauvignon Blanc from 2011 to 2013, the 2013 Chardonnay, and review the new 2014 Chardonnay. www.hawksdriftwines.co.nz
