Henry’s Drive 2010 Red Selection

25-Oct-2013
Henry’s Drive is the Padthaway-based winegrowing business of Kim Longbottom, who with her late husband Mark established their vineyard in 1992. It is named after the proprietor of the 19th century mail coach service that ran through the property. The Longbottoms first made their wine in 1998. The vineyards have grown to include over 100 ha in Padthaway and over 12 ha in the McLaren Vale. The winemaker is Renae Hirsch, who is responsible for the mainly red wine focus. www.henrysdrive.com The brand has proven to be very successful in New Zealand with strong medal awards in judgings. They are big, substantial ‘softies’. Here, I review three from the 2010 vintage. The wines are distributed by Procure Liquor. www.procureliquor.co.nz
