Highfield Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014

19-Oct-2015
In July it was announced that the two Marlborough wine producers Highfield and TerraVin would merge. Winemakers Alistair Soper and Gordon Ritchie joined with general manager Pete Coldwell to run the new company. The two brands have their specialties, Highfield well-known for Methode Traditionnelle and Sauvignon Blanc, and TerraVin for Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, and it is intended that each brand will retain their distinct identities and wine styles. The benefits of the merger come in the combining of the assets; Highfield, while owning two small vineyards has its winery and cellar door complex with a restaurant that will be re-opened for summer, and TerraVin a unique 30 ha hillside vineyard in the Southern Wither Hills, but no winery. There’s a wealth of experience in the three owners, Pete Coldwell in New Zealand wine industry management roles since 2007, Alistair Soper winemaking in Marlborough since 1995 and Gordon Ritchie beginning his winemaking in 1993. It will be very interesting to follow the progress here. I review the 2014 Highfield Sauvignon Blanc here. www.highfield.co.nzwww.terravin.co.nz
