Hopscotch Marlborough Pinot Noir 2010

03-Oct-2014
The ‘Hopscotch’ label has been introduced by Charles and Sandi Wiffen to offer wines with a friendly approach. The front label features a hopscotch grid used for the popular children’s game, and the back label quotes Cat Stevens "Remember the days of the old school yard, we used to laugh a lot”, thus evoking fun and carefree times. However the same care is taken in making the ‘Hopscotch’ wines as are the premium Charles Wiffen wines. The fruit is sourced from the family vineyards in the Lower Wairau and Southern Valleys sub-regions of Marlborough and the wines are made at the West Brook winery in West Auckland. While similar in style, they are more accessible and affordable. A 2010 Pinot Noir has been released with more to come. Here is my review of the Pinot Noir. www.charleswiffenwines.co.nz
